Laurie Anderson @ Harris Theater

Artist Laurie Anderson makes a rare Chicago appearance at the Harris Theater to show her new work Homeland, which the theater's Website describes as "[a]n exploration of American obsessions with security, the relationship of fear and freedom, an increasing acceptance of violence, and the persistent new language of war". Charlie Louvin @ Heartland Cafe

Country music legend Charlie Louvin makes a rare appearance in Chicago at the Heartland Cafe in Rogers Park tonight. Details in Transmission. Tickets are $15 in advance/$20 day of show. The Heartland Cafe is located at 7000 N. Glenwood, Chicago right by the Morse Red Line stop. All ages. Doors open at 8pm.

Global Activism Expo @ Broadway Armory

Global Activism Series, a five-year-old segment of Chicago Public Radio's Worldview, has showcased individuals who are working to improve the lives of the disadvantaged in small-scale operations all around the world. Today at Broadway Armory from 6pm, you can meet close to 80 of the global activists featured in the series and talk about their projects while enjoying food and music. $10 general admission, $8 for the Chicago Public Radio members. Milwaukee Admirals vs. Chicago Wolves @ Allstate Arena

Chicago's only post-season sports action in a long time takes place tonight at the Allstate Arena when the Wolves face the Admirals in the Western Division Semifinals of the AHL Playoffs, 7 p.m. It's the team's 13th playoff appearance in their 14-year history. Not too shabby. The two teams meet again on Friday at y7:30 p.m. in Game 2 of their best-of-seven series.

Chicago Beer Society-Third Wednesday @ Map Room
