Minneapolis natives One for the Team have found a new and happy home with Long Beach, California's the Militia Group, who will be releasing their sophomore album in August 2008. One for the Team made waves with their first album "Good Boys Don't Make Noise," finding themselves on the CMJ Top 200 charts for 14 weeks, playing over 100 tour dates across the country, and sharing the stage with the likes of Voxtrot, Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, Rooney, British Sea Power, Georgie James, Tapes 'n Tapes, Tilly and the Wall, Page France and Aqueduct. Now heading into their first release as a part of the Militia Group family, One for the Team has 180 tour dates planned, a new van, and really great haircuts.

It's championship hockey time in Chicago. And while we wait for the Blackhawks to mature a bit, we can cheer on the Wolves (again) as they make their sixth appearance in either the IHL or AHL championship series, this time against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins tonight, 7 p.m., at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont.
The Cubs kick off a four-game series against the boys from the Mile High City at 7:05 p.m. The Friday, Saturday and Sunday games begin at 1:20 p.m., 12:05 p.m. and 1:20 p.m., respectively.
Jeff Parker's Thursday series wraps up tonight at the Velvet Lounge, with an appearance by his Organ Quartet. While Jeff Parker is best known for his association with Tortoise, his jazz chops and feel are amongst the best in the city, and his Organ Quartet is one of the more traditional jazz settings he plays in. Featuring Scott Burns on tenor sax, Pete Benson on organ, and drummer George Fludas, you can expect some greasy soul jazz and serious chops emanating from the stage tonight. Jeff Parker's Organ Quaret plays the Velvet Lounge, 67 E. Cermak, at 8:30 PM. Cover charge is $10.
