Jimmy Ellis brings his unique voice on the alto saxophone to the Museum of Contemporary Art's Tuesdsay on the Terrace series. Having played with everyone from Nat "King" Cole to Earl "Fatha" Hines, and Sun Ra to Sammy Davis Jr, Ellis represent and important historical link to Chicago's jazz history. Last year the Chicago Jazz Festival paid tribute to him by presenting three generations of his students alongside Jimmy Ellis to show the impact he's had on the local scene. An acknowledged master, Ellis is a musician who can span the history of jazz in his stylistic references in the course of a single set. Come hear his unique music and have a drink on the MCA's idyllic terrace. Jimmy Ellis plays the MCA Terrace, 220 E. Chicago, 5:30 - 7 PM, no cover.
