Head over to Trebes Park, located at Webster and Racine, today for FlavorFest, a WholeFoods brainchild of music, food samples, cooking demos and activities for the kids. It will make you forget that you can easily spend 50 bucks there on a frickin' bread run.

Slow Food Chicago BBQ Benefit @ Kendall College

Kendall College students are hosting a meal of smoked meats and tons of side dishes as a benefit for the Slow Food Chicago delegation to the Terra Madre conference in Italy tonight at 6pm in the school's cafe (900 N Branch). Tickets are $25 for Slow Food Members and Kendall Parents; $35 Non-Members.

Bar AIDS

Bar AIDS, a benefit for AIDS Care Chicago, will be held tonight at several bars across the city. A portion of drink sales will be donated to the charity.

Glenwood Avenue Arts Fest

The Glenwood Avenue Arts Fest (GAAF) is a free, weekend-long event that features artists, open studios and live entertainment on three outdoor stages. Experience art, theater, music, as well as food and drink, on the cobblestone streets of the Glenwood Avenue Arts District in Chicago's historic Rogers Park neighborhood. Kickoff events Friday, 8/22, 6-10pm., 6900 block of North Glenwood Ave. Festival: Saturday and Sunday, 8/23-24, 12 noon to 8pm, 6900-7000 North Glenwood Avenue and the 1400 block of Morse Avenue. Accenture Chicago Triathlon

The Accenture Chicago Triathlon kicks off at 6am this morning, starting in Monroe Harbor downtown and ending at McCormick Place. It's free to watch.
