U of C Press Book Sale
For the first time in over twenty years, the University of Chicago Press is holding a book sale where they will offer hundreds of their titles at incredible discounts. Both hardcovers and paperbacks, from reference guides to Mike Royko to bestellers will be available for purchase. Speakers everywhere this fall will rejoice with the arrival of Eyes at Half Mast, the third record from Talkdemonic. The Portland, Oregon duo of Kevin O'Connor and Lisa Molinaro have been playing together since 2003; she plays the viola and cello, while he plays everything else, including, but not limited to: drums, synths, and acoustic instruments. The result is an intoxicating blend of symphonic strings and explosive percussion; achingly beautiful music.
Washington HS Culinary Arts Fundraiser
Washington High School's Culinary Arts program holds a silent auction and fundraiser at The Joynt, 650 N. Dearborn, tonight from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Tickets are $40 and includes complimentary drinks, hors d'oeuvres and music.
