World Kitchen: Thanksgiving Memories @ Gallery 37

Today's class (11am) will help you plan for Turkey Day. "Thanksgiving Memories" is offered as part of the World Kitchen learning series offered by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs, and will be held at the Gallery 37 Center for the Arts, 66 E. Randolph Street. Admission is $30 and preregistration is required. Please wear non-skid shoes and bring your apron!

Damion Romero @ Lampo

Tonight at 9 p.m., Los Angeles sound artist Damion Romero will perform his newest piece at Lampo, 216 W. Chicago Ave., 2nd Floor. The piece will involve geophones, a set of devices used to pick up vibrations in the ground (in this case, the floor of the space), and feeding the resultant sounds through tone generators and then back into the walls and floors, creating a feedback loop of droning sonics. A purely visceral experience with a classy installation touch. More information at Transmission.

The Thin Man @ Subterranean

If you're looking for a show to make you want to drown yourself in whiskey, head to Subterranean this Saturday to hear The Thin Man. Accordion, upright bass and some occasional harmonica will get you dancing despite the despair. Or you can just wait and read all about the great show you missed in Transmission next week. . . MS Cocktailin' for the Cause

Multiple Solutions, the junior board and auxiliary group of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Greater Illinois Chapter, hosts its fifth annual MS Cocktailin' for the Cause benefit at the Hard Rock Hotel, 230 N. Michigan Ave., tonight from 7:30 to 11:30pm. The evening will include complimentary appetizers, a premium open bar, a raffle and silent auction, and a DJ. The Sea and Cake @ Empty Bottle

Celebrating their latest album release, Car Alarm, Thrill Jockey artists The Sea and Cake return to the Empty Bottle for a double shot of performances to celebrate this slightly harder, slightly bouncier new effort. Chicago Beer Society Fall Tasting & Dinner

Today the Chicago Beer Society will hold their 32nd Annual Fall Tasting and Dinner, the oldest commercial beer tasting in the country. The event consists of a multi-course meal prepared by chef Charles Fegert and a blind tasting conducted with souvenir Chicago Beer Society glasses. The event takes place at Rock Bottom Chicago, 1 W. Grand, from 6:30-11pm. Tickets are $45 for CBS members, $55 for non-members. Reservations due by November 9.

Culinary Historians of Chicago: "Flavored with History"

The Culinary Historians of Chicago host Karen Page and Andrew Dornenburg, authors of The Flavor Bible, for a talk on flavor pairings in food and drink throughout history. Chef Jennifer Bucko Lamplough, Associate Dean at Robert Morris College, and her students, will present a sampling of dishes inspired by the book. Eric Ripert Dinner @ Ritz-Carlton

Ripert is coming, Ripert is coming! The legendary chef behind Le Bernardin in NYC will be in Chicago Thursday to...sign some copies of his new book On the Line (doled out courtesy of ChicaGourmets!). But wait, there's food: the initial reception will be followed by a four course dinner of dishes from the book, prepared by the Ritz's Mark Payne. I guess that's how you know you're really good -- when someone else prepares your three-Michelin-star food for you so you can just sit back and relax.
