This evening Sonotheque hosts the first in what will be a monthly event curated by the crew from the Obey Your Brain label and the Shape Shoppe studio. Mahjongg side-project Waterbabies headline; with DJs Alex Valentine, Smart Cousin, and HoloGram Trav spinning throughout the evening. 9 PM - 2 AM. See our Transmission page for further details. Chicago Flair showcases a wide range of Chicago talent tonight at Martyr's, 3855 N. Lincoln Ave., starting at 8pm. The evenings entertainment includes burlesque performances by Viva La Muerte and Ms. Bea Haven, insanely funny video comedy skits by RookieTV, performance art by dominatrix Miss Maya Sinstress, fetish performance by the incomparable Miss Xena, spoken word by Miss Vine, magical illusions by Ron Fitzgerald, and a special appearance by Donna Smith from the movie SiCKO. DJ Lee Farmer spins house music and Chochise Soulstar of Paradox spits hip hop rhymes. There will also be a fashion show of latex clothes by House of Bias. The show is a benefit for Maria The Purple Goddess, a Chicago burlesque and fetish performer who had brain surgery earlier this year. Tickets are $15. 21 and over.
