Chicago Chamber Choir's Carols By Candlelight

Get your fill of the Yuletide spirit as The Chicago Chamber Choir presents Carols by Candlelight tonight at Lincoln Park Presbyterian Church, 600 W. Fullerton, at 7:30pm. This annual winter program features traditional and contemporary carols and is billed as a partial sing-a-long: they even trust the audience to do "Dona Nobis Pacem" as a round. Post-concert refreshments are included with admission. Tickets are $18 in advance for adults, $15 for children and students. Available online.

Kuma's Doom Fest

Kuma's Corner presents Doom Fest at the Double Door, 1572 N. Milwaukee Ave., this Saturday and Sunday. It's a marathon of metal for just $15 in advance, $20 at the door. Today's lineup includes Kongh, Samothrace, Indian, Ol' Scratch, Minsk, Blood of the Tyrant, Beneath Oblivion, Rue, Ganon and Rabid Rabbit. Doors open at 7pm each day. 21+

Sappho's Salon @ Women & Children First

This month's installment of Women & Children First's lesbian salon night is co-sponsored by Early to Bed and features the Women's Acoustic Assemble from the Old Town School of Folk Music. Also appearing will be DJ SpinNikki and Ms. Bea Haven as Sexy Ms. Santa. Admission is on a sliding scale, $7-$10, and includes food and wine. Proceeds from the event goes to benefit the artists performing tonight and to Women & Children First's Voices Fund. The Women's Acoustic Ensemble will donate a portion of their proceeds to Women Healing, an organization that helps women healing from abuse. 7:30pm at 5233 N. Hideout's Annual Christmas Panto

The Hideout's annual holiday pantomime returns for six shows Dec. 18-20. This year the story follows the adventures of Charles Darwin (played by Tim Tuten), "a wordy and misunderstood naturalist, searching for the scientific origins of Christ-mas." Also starring Jon Langford, Mike Bulington, Callie Roach, Derek Erdman, Gnat Ward, Amy Lombardi and Janet Bean. Directed by Sally Timms. Expect the unexpected -- and a guest appearance by Moby Dick. 1354 W. Wabansia. Performances are at 7pm and 10pm each night; tickets are $12 or $5 for children. More information here.
