Rick Potts @ Lampo

Los Angeles Free Music Society (LAFMS) founder Rick Potts performs in Chicago for the very first time tonight at Lampo (216 W. Chicago). He will perform two pieces, including one based on promotional rides at Walt Disney World ("Carousel of Progress") and one about a recently-adopted cat ("Kaspar) played on machines that "with a little help, play themselves." 9pm, $12. Tim and Eric's Awesome Show @ The Vic

Tim and Eric take their bizarre Adult Swim smash-hit, "Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!" on the road again in '09, making a stop at The Vic tonight at 7:30pm, 3145 N. Sheffield. The Tim and Eric live shows include as many mouth-breathing hallucinogenic non sequiturs as the web videos and are just as blue. Still, the actual content of either video or live performance remains so random and elusive that even a 200-word preview of the performance says almost nothing about it at all.

Kitchens: the Culture of Restaurant Work @ Kendall College

Post Christmas Spectacular 1976 at Trap Door Theater

This is the third and final weekend of storefront theater troupe Brain Surgeon Theater's Post Christmas Spectacular 1976. This tale, written by its cast of children and adult actors, features disco dancing, disco hair and the disco dreams of a teenage girl growing up in small-town Michigan. Playing at Trap Door Theatre, 1655 Cortland Street; Fridays and Saturdays at 8, Saturdays and Sundays at 2. Tickets are $10 for kids under 10 and $15 for adults, available online or at the door. Saturday matinee tickets are available for $5.

World Kitchen Learning Series: Defining Curry

If you're looking to cook with the venerable spice curry, head to the "Defining Curry" cooking class today from 11am-2pm at the Gallery 37 Center for the Arts, 66 E. Randolph Street.
