Whiskey University @ Five Star Bar

Five Star Bar (1424 W. Chicago) is sponsoring a class on the finer aspects of bourbon this afternoon from 4-6pm. The session is led by Whiskey Professor Steve Cole of Beam Global Spirits and Wine and features tastings of four bourbons. Cost is $10, $5 for industry professionals. Taste of the Neighborhoods Tour

Travel Chicago and savor cuisines from two different restaurants serving assorted small-plate samplers. Taste the nuances; talk exotic ingredients, techniques and cultures; and collect recipes. Dessert or sweets on the last stop are the cherry on top. Restaurants are determined three weeks before tour dates -- call for details and to check availability as seats go quickly on this, the most popular of the Chicago Neighborhood Tours. Les Savy Fav @ Epiphany

In their ongoing series of bookings with the Epiphany Episcopal Church, the Empty Bottle presents an evening of solid high-energy entertainment as art-punk trend-setters Les Savy Fav return to town to play a headlining set tonight. Also on the billing is Chicago's own The Jai-Alai Savant, who are poking their heads up after making themselves a bit scarce lately. 201 S. Ashland. Tickets are $15 and the show starts at 8pm. World Kitchen Learning Series: Tropical Escape

Want to pretend winter is an illusion by cooking some island-esque dishes? You can at the "Tropical Escape" cooking class, today from 11am-2pm at the Gallery 37 Center for the Arts, 66 E. Randolph Street. This class is offered through the City of Chicago's World Kitchen learning series. Admission is $30 and pre-registration is required.

Collaborative Vision: The Poetic Dialogue Project @ Cultural Center

Comedy Night w/The Kates @ Book Cellar

George Evelyn aka DJ EASE brings his illbient, downtempo, hip hop breaks to the Abbey Pub (3420 W. Grace St.) tonight.
