The House Theatre hosts its annual dance party benefit, Love-O-Rama, tonight at Nick's Uptown, 4015 N Sheridan Rd., from 7-11pm. The festivities include a live DJ, make-out booth, $3 PBR and a raffle. $15 advance, $20 at the door. All proceeds benefit the House. Tickets are available online or by calling 773-251-2195.
Authors Larry Smith and Rachel Fershleiser come to the Book Cellar to share their new work Six-Word Memoirs on Love & Heartbreak. If you've never really cooked but want to fire up your skills, this four-part class will get you going in the kitchen. You can take as many classes in this series as desired. The "Get in the Kitchen" class series starts tonight from 6-8:30pm at the Gallery 37 Center for the Arts, 66 E. Randolph Street. This class is offered through the City of Chicago's World Kitchen learning series. Admission is $30 for single classes ($100 for all four) and pre-registration is required.
They hit the Chicago music scene in 1990 from all different backgrounds (jazz, rock, punk, electronic) to form a real experimental rock band. Tortoise, who many will tell you were the beginning of indie rock as we know it today, play at The Empty Bottle tonight. The show starts at 10pm. Tickets are $15. 1035 N. Western Ave.
