Local author, blogger, actor and man-about-town Dave Awl presents the return of his occasional cabaret show The Partly Dave Show as part of this year's Rhinoceros Theater Festival. Dave hosts the evening, along with co-hosts Christopher Piatt and Diana Slickman, and welcomes guest performers Dan Godston (from the Chicago Calling Arts Festival) and Scott Hermes (formerly of the Neo-Futurists). Live music provided by Wells-next-the-Sea, featuring Dan Morr. The show happens tonight at 9:30pm at the Viaduct Theater (3111 N. Western, near Belmont). Tickets are $12 or pay-what-you-can. Jon Langford's Skull Orchard are scheduled to headline at the Beat Kitchen this evening. Tonight's show, however, is also the official record-release party for The Sons -- the latest recording from local outfit Kaspar Hauser, who'll be playing the supporting set for Langford and crew. The Judy Green gets it all started in the opening slot. Doors open at 9pm, and the show starts at 9:30. Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 at the door, and the show is ages 17 & up. 2100 West Belmont. The Windy City Rollers hold their second bout of the season tonight at UIC Pavilion, 525 S. Racine Ave. Manic Attackers vs. The Fury, Hell's Belles vs. Double Crossers. Doors open at 6pm, first whistle at 7pm. Tickets are $20.
Street artists The Viking and Morgan celebrate the opening of an exhibition of their work at Novem Studio, 1104 N. Ashland, tonight from 6pm to 10pm. They're promising surprises, free things, beer, art and "things you can't even imagine."
