Forkable Chili Night

Food blogger and underground dinner club hostess Andrea Newberry presents another Forkable event: Forkable Chili Night. Tickets are $25 and include a 3-course prefix meal served family style. The event starts at 6pm and is BYOB (which stands for "bowl" and "booze" in this case). Tickets are available online. Location is disclosed upon reservation.

Oscar Party @ Red Orchid Theatre

Red Orchid alum Michael Shannon received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor in the film Revolutionary Road. Tonight the theater is celebrating with a performance of their current show The Unseen, at 3pm, followed by an Oscar party at 6pm with "casual food," beer and wine. The whole package is $30. Evgeny Kissin @ Chicago Symphony Orchestra

Russian classical pianist Evgeny Kissin performs selections by Prokofiev and Chopin at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, 220 S. Michigan Ave., today at 3pm. Tickets are $36-$149. The performance was initially sold out, but stage seats have been added and are available by calling 312-294-3000. More information here.

Fifth Congressional Candidates Speak @ Inter-American School

The Lake View Citizens' Council has organized a Fifth Congressional District Candidates Forum this Sunday for you to hear from the candidates running for Rahm Emanuel's former seat. Meanwhile, the Active Transportation Alliance is posting candidate positions on transportation. Inter-American School, 851 W. Waveland. 5 - 7pm (doors open 4:30pm).

Dvorak in America @ Civic Orchestra of Chicago

Dvorak in America is the name of the program, which explores the music that Antonin Dvorak made while here visiting America in the late 1800's and influenced by Harry T. Burleigh, a black composer of that time. The concert will take place at the South Shore Cultural Center at 7059 S. South Shore Drive and is free. Show begins at 6:30pm.
