Raphael Saadiq @ Park West

Even though Raphael Saadiq is most popular for his role with Tony! Toni! Toné! and producing dozens of R&B, soul and hip hop acts, the music he makes for himself is nothing to scoff at. The Philly Soul- and Motown-influenced The Way I See It earned him numerous accolades last year. After spending chunks of 2008 opening for John Legend (including at the Chicago Theater in November), Saadiq headlines a tour that brings him to Park West (322 W. Armitage) this evening. 8pm. Tickets are $28. For more information, visit Park West.

Tindersticks @ Epiphany

After taking an extended hiatus in the earlier part of the decade, the melancholic U.K. cult outfit Tindersticks returned in late 2008 with a revised line-up and the new album The Hungry Saw. They're only now getting around to bring the new material to the U.S. for a stateside tour, and tonight they'll be playing at the Epiphany Episcopal Church. Jon Langford & Sally Timms open. The show starts at 8pm and tickets are $20 (via the Empty Bottle's site). 201 S. State Street. All ages show. See our Transmission page for further details.
