Tap that...tree at the Maple Syrup Festival today at the North Park Village Nature Center, 5801 North Pulaski. From 10am-3pm you'll get to tap trees for the sap of the gods. Sweet.

Recently reunited grindcore band Brutal Truth comes to the Double Door tonight, releasing their first CD in over a decade. The Culinary HIstorians of Chicagoclair will hold a lecture about Indian cuisine today at the Ranjana Bhargava Indian Cooking School, located at 6730 S. Euclid Avenue, today from 10am to noon. Cookbook author and chef Suvir Saran will talk about how to use spices common to Indian cuisine, and will be signing copies of his books afterward. Lecture admission is $3-$5. RSVP required.
