Anarchist Film Festival

The Chicago Anarchist Film Festival runs Friday through Sunday at the Jane Addams Hull House Museum, 800 S. Halsted St. Tonight the screenings run from 7pm to 10pm, showing Boom or Bust, Get Rid of Yourself, Infiltrating the Underground and Infest Wisely. A donation of $5-10 per festival day is requested, but come on, they're anarchists -- you won't be turned away if you don't have any cash.

Mountains @ Empty Bottle

Mountains is the two-man combo of Brendon Anderegg and Keon Holtkamp, who specialize in guitar-based droneworks -- contemplative compositions entwined with various earthy field recordings and folk instrumentation that have a pastoral warmth to them. For the past several years, Mountains have been releasing some exceptionally beautiful records via their own Apestaartje label, and collecting a lot of praise in avant music circles as a result. With the recent release of their latest CD Choral (via Thrill Jockey), word seems to be catching on. They're playing at the Bottle tonight, and the opening slot will feature a special set from Sam Prekop and Archer Prewitt, who'll be playing as a duo. Doors open at 7:30pm and tickets are $10. 1035 N. Western Ave.

Tuba or Not Tuba? @ St. Gregory the Great

4:00 PM, at St. Gregory the Great Church (5535 N. Paulina St., Chicago, 60640). International Chamber Artists present musical selections including Herni Tomasi's "tre ou ne pas tre" (To be or not to be) for three trombones and tuba, Christer Danielsson's Concertant Suit for solo tuba and four horns, Chausson's Concerto in D Major, Op. 21 for piano, violin, and string quartet, and Alan Smith's Four Folk Songs for soprano, viola, and piano. As part of ICA's philanthropic and educational mission, a student ensemble from the Merit School of Music will also perform. Suggested donation is $15 for adults and $7 for students. For more information, visit www.ICAmusic.org or call 773-727-5357.

Soupline Cinema Sunday @ Rodan

On Sundays, Rodan (1530 N. Milwaukee Ave.) features Asian soup and cult cinema. From 6-9 PM (or until they run out of soup), Asian noodle soup bowls are $3. They also offer a Three Floyds draft beer for $3. Tonight's movies are 1958's "The Underworld Beauty" and 1987's "The Shaolin Hand Lock" by Ho Meng Hua. For more information call 773-276-7036.

Canasta @ Simon's

Cute Chicago band Canasta will pile into the delightful Simon's Tavern in Andersonville for a FREE 2-set show on Sunday. Catch them now before they head into the studio to record their new album. You might even be lucky enough to hear some new tunes Sunday night. If you're trying to squeeze every ounce out of your weekend, here's a fine way to do it. Music starts at 9pm. Free. 21+ Simon's is located at 5210 N. Clark St.
