Lunch Hour Talk @ Smart Museum of Art

The Smart Museum of Art (5550 South Greenwood Ave.) presents a lunch-hour talk today at noon. "Artistic Evidence: Data or Dust?" investigates whether collecting periphery objects and source materials related to Chicago artists Roger Brown and H.C. Westermann are worthwhile. Dining Out for Life

The 16th annual Dining Out for Life happens tonight at restaurants and bars across the Chicago area. These establishments are donating a portion of their proceeds to AIDSCare Chicago, a local nonprofit helping people living with AIDS. Just peruse the list of restaurants on the Dining Out for Life Website, go there tonight, and they'll take care of the rest. It's that simple!

Niteroi Launch @ Gamma Player

Gamma Player celebrates the launch of its new T-shirt line Niteroi (in collaboration with Japanese designer Rozalia Scartissue) on Thursday April 30th from 7 to 9 p.m. The event, hosted at their 2035 W. Etta James @ House of Blues

Etta James' signature song, "At Last" has probably made you cry in almost every major motion picture, and was also the song that the Obama's danced to at the Inaugural Balls in January. While she may be best known for "At Last," James has had a legendary career as a recording artist for the last five decades--including three Grammys and a multitude of other awards and honors. Atomic Sketch Event @ Evil Olive

BCD Collaborative hosts the tenth installment of Atomic Sketch Event tonight at Wicker Park's Evil Olive (1551 W. Division St). Showcasing established and emerging artists of various disciplines, the event promises finished works at recession-buster prices. This evening's "guest artists" include: Kyle Francis Harter (check out his super awesome Meowl t-shirt!), David Simpson, John Airo, James Mosingo, Shane Swinnea and Fathom + Flip from OhNo!Doom. 6-10pm.

Stones Throw DJ Tour @ Abbey Pub
