The Taste of Chicago is a great way for locals to get exposed to some of Chicago's finer bands. This year Kid, You'll Move Mountains is set to preform on the Taste stage (Balbo and Columbus). Kid, You'll Move Mountains has been impressing local audiences for the past year with their recent album Loomings, a complicated yet enjoyable album. Famed Sun-Times critic Jim DeRogatis recently wrote about the band in his weekly column, saying the band's music "keep things moving forward with a propulsive urgency that never neglects the classic Midwestern power-pop melodies." The band hits the stage at 2:30pm and, like all shows at the Taste of Chicago, is free to get in to. If you haven't seen this band before, grab some grub and take a look.
Facets Cinematheque presents a week-long screening of the 2007 film Dai-Nipponjin (Big Man Japan), a contender for strangest Japanese monster movie evar. Big Man Japan screens through Thursday, July 2; see the Facets Website for showtimes. Facets: 1517 W. Fullerton. (773) 281-4114.

The show starts at 10:30pm at the Lakeshore Theater, located at the corner of Belmont and Broadway. Tickets are $10 at the door or online at the Lakeshore Theater.
