G-FEST XVI
This weekend sees the latest edition of G-FEST, the convention for Godzilla and Japanese monster fans. G-Fest happens this weekend at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O'Hare (5440 North River Road, Rosemont), and will feature plenty of workshops, screenings of seldom-seen footage, and an appearance by Godzilla film regular Kenji Sahara. First Friday @ Flat Iron Arts Building
The Flat Iron Artists' Association's Wicker Park/ Bucktown First Friday "smARTshow" premiers today and runs until Sunday. Starting at the Flat Iron Arts Building, 1579 N. Milwaukee Ave., the patriotic-themed exhibition event encompasses surrounding venues such as Piece Brewery and Pizzeria, Club Lucky, Just Indulge, and the new unique eye-wear gallery, Eye Want, to name a few. Admission is free but donations are suggested. More information can be found at the FIAA website.
