The Neo-Futurists continue their eighth annual "film fest" It Came From The Neo-Futurarium VIII: Legend of the Neo-Futurarium tonight with a staged reading of the 1958 Anita Ekberg film Screaming Mimi, directed by ensemble member Rachel Claff. The show starts tonight at 8pm at the Neo-Futurarium (5153 N. Ashland). Tickets are $10, or $8 for students with ID and repeat customers. Author and blogger Cory Doctorow will be attending tonight's performance of Little Brother, the Griffin Theatre stage adaptation of Doctorow's recent YA novel. The company has organized a meetup at Jack's Bar & Grill (2856 N. Southport) before the play. The meetup runs between 5:45pm and 7pm. Little Brother is being performed at the Athenaeum, 2936 N. Southport, today and on future Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 3pm. The production runs through July 19. This annual 5K run & walk in honor of France's national holiday goes through the West Loop on a flat, fast course. The race gets underway at 7:30pm at Jackson and Aberdeen and ends at a block party with live music by Dot Dot Dot, food, and beer that lasts until 10pm. The entry fee is $30. Register online or at the packet pick-up. In order to take part in the chip-timed run, you must pre-register. Race day registrants can participate in a "fun run."
