The Neo-Futurists continue their eighth annual "film fest" It Came From The Neo-Futurarium VIII: Legend of the Neo-Futurarium tonight with a staged reading of the 1970 horror film Equinox, best known as the first film project by Oscar-winning effects artist Dennis Muren. Longtime film fest contributor Bob Stockfish directs this cautionary tale. The show starts tonight at 8pm at the Neo-Futurarium (5153 N. Ashland at Foster). How should the region plan for the year 2040? This summer, the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) will hold dozens of free public workshops called GO TO 2040 "Invent the Future". Information you contribute at these meetings will help CMAP develop a preferred scenario that will best reflect the region's desired future. The Newberry Library gears up for their 25th annual book fair where more than 110,000 donated used books in 70 categories will be on sale, many for under $2, for booklovers to take home. Profits for the Fair go toward sustaining the Newberry's mission and allow for continued public access to library. Today the Fair will run 12pm-8pm at 60 W. The four remaining teams--USA, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Mexico--in the CONCACAF Gold Cup come to Chicago this week to compete in a 2009 Gold Cup semifinal doubleheader at Soldier Field on Thursday, July 23. The first match of the evening will be the USA versus Honduras, with kickoff at 6pm CST. The second match will be Mexico versus Costa Rica, with kickoff at 8pm CST. The winners of each semifinal match will play in the final in New York City on Sunday, July 26. Three Chicago Fire players will be representing their countries this week, with midfielder Logan Pause and goalie Jon Busch playing for USA, and defender Gonzalo Segares will be playing for Costa Rica. Individual tickets are available through Ticketmaster.
