Silent Summer Film Festival: The Thief of Baghdad

The Silent Film Society of Chicago's Silent Film Festival continues this evening with a screening of Douglas Fairbanks' swashbuckler from 1924, The Thief of Baghdad. Pressure Cooker, a documentary film about the Careers Through Culinary Arts Program, will be screened at the Gene Siskel Film Center tonight at 6:00 pm.

StreetWise Under The Stars

StreetWise provides jobs for many of the homeless, and tonight the publication celebrates their new venture into continuing education and workforce training programs, starting with a partnership with the LEED (Local Economic and Employment Development) Council. It will honor the first 5 Streetwise vendors to complete the program, and features speakers such as Jon Reinsdorf (coordinator of the program), Kevin Ward (mentored vendors through the program), and Alderman Manny Flores.
