Facets Night School: Fletch

Facets Multimedia presents the second session of Facets Night School, midnight screenings of classic and cult movies with discussions about each film. Tonight's film is Fletch, with Chevy Chase cast as Gregory McDonald's crime-solving newspaperman. Facets employee Eric Holst leads a post-film discussion. The movie screens tonight at midnight, and tickets are only $5 (available through Ticketweb). Facets: 1517 W. Fullerton.

2nd Annual Oak Park Microbrew Review

Get on the Green Line and head to the Oak Park Microbrew Review, which runs today from 3-8pm at Marion Street between South Boulevard and Lake Street. On the bill are tastings of 50 craft beers from 20 Illinois microbreweries. Live music and food are also at your disposal. Tickets start at $35. A VIP event will be held from 2-3pm.

Intro to Taiko Workshop

Learn the art of Taiko, Japanese drums, at this workshop for ages 15 and up, sponsored by the Japan America Society of Chicago. The event takes place at the Japanese American Service Committee (4427 N. Clark), with registration taking place from 1-1:30pm, followed by the workshop from 1:30-3pm. Drumsticks will be provided, but participants are asked to wear comfortable clothes and bring a bottle of water. Cost is $35 for Japan America Society members, $40 for non-members. Neo-Futurists present Cool As Ice

Fresh off their annual summer "film fest" of staged readings of bad film scripts, The Neo-Futurists present an encore of this year's first film, the Vanilla Ice film Cool As Ice. Neo member Dina Connolly plays Mr. Ice, and as you can see from this YouTube from the last performance, Ms. Connolly's got her rapping down tight. The evening begins at 7pm and includes an ice cream social before the performance (making it a Cool As Ice Cream Social!). Tickets are $25 and can be purchased through Brown Paper Tickets. DJ Madrid @ Alliance Française de Chicago

The Alliance Française de Chicago (the school on Chicago Ave. where our friends take French language lessons) isn't probably the first place you think of to hold a concert, but tonight DJ Madrid mixes French melodies with Chicago beats. Food (crêpes, quiches and cheese, of course) and drinks will be served. There will also be prizes and other surprises. 7-10p.m. $10 Members, $15 Non-Members. 810 North Dearborn (entrance on 54 W. Chicago Ave.).

Emily Wells @ Schubas

Coming off a beautiful performance at our own Pritzker Pavilion this Monday, multi-instrumentalist Emily Wells plays at Schubas tonight. Wells creates her own symphonies on stage by layering tracks and tracks of her own voice and violin. Horse's Ha and Leroy Bach also play. Tickets are $8 ($10 door). 3159 N. Southport. 10pm. 21+

Perimeter Ride @ Wicker Park Fountain

Explore the entire 100-mile perimeter of Chicago by bike, meeting at Wicker Park Fountain (1425 N. Damen) at 9:30am for a 10am departure. The ride is slow, meandering, with plenty of stops for sightseeing and skinny-dipping. It ends at Handlebar (2311 W. North) at about 2am. Read more here.

Chicago Dancing Festival @ Pritzker Pavilion

The Chicago Dancing Festival again brings together some of the biggest names in American dance, and all for us lucky Chicagoans to enjoy for free! Tonight's "Celebration of American Dance" will showcase such heavy hitters as Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Lar Lubovitch Dance Company, and American Ballet Theater. Bring your picnic baskets and blankets and start camping out early because this is sure to draw an enormous crowd. Saturday, August 22, 7:30 p.m., Jay Pritzker Pavilion, Millennium Park.

Rockaholic Fashion Fest @ Moonshine

This weekend is the first annual Rockaholic Fashion Fest & Fashion Show. Come over to Wicker Park's Moonshine (1824 West Division Street) Saturday at noon to enjoy an afternoon of shopping and music. The bar's parking lot will be transformed into a "Shopper's Row," where local boutiques will showcase their winning fashion. A DJ will be spinning all afternoon, and at 9 p.m. the party really gets going with the main fashion show featuring designs by M. Go Fashion Salon. Drink specials will be available all day long and there is no cover, so come ready to spend money on some modern and stylish clothing.

26th Annual Ukrainian Festival

This weekend, come check out the Ukrainian Festival in... that's right, folks, Ukrainian Village. The festival takes place from 12pm - 10pm both today and Sunday in Smith Park at 2526 W. Grand Ave.
