UIC hosts Re-Thinking Soup, a free weekly lunch where participants eat soup cooked from ingredients found at Hull House's urban gardens and chat about an assortment of topics. Event runs today from noon-1:30p at Hull House, 800 South Halsted.
Discover Impressionist Paris at Mon Ami Gabi (2300 N. Lincoln Park West). Enjoy a French meal and a slide show on Parisian fashion by an Art Institute lecturer. The evening starts at 6pm with a wine reception, followed by the lecture, then a multi-course French dinner. The event costs $65 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Reservations are required. If you like jazz, or you just like being outside on a Chicago summer afternoon, then make your way to the Museum of Contemporary Art for "Tuesdays on the Terrace." Have a seat by the band on the terrace, or bring a blanket and some friends to the lawn and take in the sounds of some of the city's most talented jazz musicians. This month, Quickies! welcomes authors Andrew Farkas, Robbie Q. Telfer, Jacob Knabb, Jessa Marsh and Patrick Somerville to read their very short fiction. Seems like just yesterday that Record Breakers in Hoffman Estates announced the move to State and Cermak and their opening of two rock and roll venues, but time flies: South Side favorite Reggie's Rock Club hosts their Two Year Anniversary Party tonight. The party starts at 7pm, is 21+ (sorry, kids). and includes a free show. All alcohol $3.
