Re-Thinking Soup @ Hull House

UIC hosts Re-Thinking Soup, a free weekly lunch where participants eat soup cooked from ingredients found at Hull House's urban gardens and chat about an assortment of topics. Event runs today from noon-1:30p at Hull House, 800 South Halsted.

James Kennedy @ Green Lantern

James Kennedy (The Order of Odd-Fish) will read from his novel-in-progress, The Magnificent Moots, as part of The Parlor reading series at Green Lantern. As described by Kennedy, the book is "a combination of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, A Wrinkle In Time, Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game, The Royal Tennenbaums, and the 1970s-1980s TV show Battle of the Network Stars." Conversations in the Arts @ Columbia College

Conversations in the Arts, a series of culturally focused lectures orchestrated through Columbia College Chicago, enters its fifth year with the state of media taking the pulpit.

Biz Stone, the co-founder of Twitter, is scheduled to speak first today at 7pm in Columbia's Film Row Cinema, 1104 S. Wabash (to Tweet the event, enter: #bizstonecolum). Arianna Huffington, co-founder and Editor-in-Chief of the Huffington Post news site will speak on January 27, 2010, while director Mira Nair, whose films include Vanity Fair, Monsoon Wedding and the forthcoming Bollywood Blues, is scheduled for April 28, 2010.
