UIC hosts Re-Thinking Soup, a free weekly lunch where participants eat soup cooked from ingredients found at Hull House's urban gardens and chat about an assortment of topics. Event runs today from noon-1:30pm at Hull House, 800 South Halsted.
This Montreal group was here back in May, and we were worried they would never come back to Chicago after playing to a near empty room. The poor turnout wasn't any fault of the band however, as they delivered a set full of energy and charisma. Luckily though, Winter Gloves return tonight (just in time for you get out your own winter gloves) bringing their indie rock jam to Empty Bottle. 9:30pm. Tickets are $3 ($8 door). 1035 N. Singer-songwriter David Kav is traveling from Chicago to Memphis on Amtrak, stopping to play shows in towns along the way and raising money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as part of his Writing the Rails tour.
