CHROMAsome Opening @ New Wave Coffee

"CHROMAsome: A Portrait of a Community," a photography exhibition by George Aye, makes its debut at New Wave Coffee, 2557 N Milwaukee Ave., with an opening party tonight at 7pm. Arranged chromatically from darkest to lightest in skin tone, each portrait of a Logan Square resident features a hand-written description by the participant of their background. The exhibition runs through Jan. 7. Free

1985 @ The Factory Theater

The Factory Theater spoofs George Orwell's classic 1984 with a distinctly mid-decade Chicago Bears twist. Eric Roach directs. Located at 3504 N. Elston, between Albany and Kedzie. The Madame Barker Holiday Variety Show (with Rick Bayless)

Rick Bayless is hitting the stage with local ensemble 500 Clown for The Madam Barker Holiday Variety Show at Prop Thtr. Along with the holiday-themed music, dancing, magic and comedy, Bayless will be on stage creating edible concoctions.

Tickets are $10, available at the door only, so expect the same sorts of lines you find at other Bayless businesses around town -- though the 11pm start time might cull the crowd a bit.

Restless City Opens @ Corbett vs. Dempsey

Restless City is Corbett vs. Dempsey's first solo show of artwork by Margo Hoff. It spans the majority of Hoff's lengthy and prolific career, and features woodblock prints, paintings, and painted "canvas collages" from the 1940s through the 1980s. In the East Wing is an exhibition of recent paintings by Sam Prekop. Yes, THE Sam Prekop. The opening reception is from 5-9pm tonight, and the show will be up through January 16. Aspect Ratio Opens @ Plaines Project

MFA students in the School of Art and Design at UIC are presenting artworks reflecting on questions of time, space and narrative. Based in an interdisciplinary seminar class of the same name as the exhibition, the artists approach time, space and narrative within the multi-faceted context of readings, screenings and discussions in physics, anthropology, sociology, literary criticism and art theory. Aspect Ratio opens at Plaines Project (1822 S. Desplaines) tonight, the reception is from 6-9pm, and the show will stay up through December 18.

LUSH West Town Grand Opening

LUSH opens its new West Town location at 1412 W Chicago Ave to the lushes of the neighborhood (and city) for an open house tonight from 6-9pm. Free wine and beer.

Rock for Kids is a Chicago non-profit that provides music education to at-risk youth. Their biggest event of the year, an auction of amazing signed posters, collectibles, event packages and more, takes place tonight at the Park West. The 21st Annual Rock for Kids Charity Auction is at the Park West, located at 322 N. Armitage, Chicago, starting at 7pm. Tickets are $25 (general) and $75 (VIP, admission starting at 6pm) and are available online.

Cameron Esposito Records Grab Them Aghast

The hilarious and engaging standup comic Cameron Esposito lays down tracks for her first comedy album Grab Them Aghast, produced by Rooftop Comedy Records. The second (and final!) night of the live recording happens tonight at the Lincoln Lodge and comes packaged with Dizzy Lizzy Delicious, a delightful young woman who jumps around on a pile of razor-sharp broken glass.
