The Chicago Public Library, Blackstone Branch, 4904 S. Lake Park Ave., welcomes Robert Pruter, author of Doowop: The Chicago Scene, tonight at 6:30pm. Pruter will discuss the evolution of Chicago's 1950s doowop music and the legendary groups such as the Spaniels and the Flamingos that helped make Chicago music history. This event is free and is open to the public.

The Free Store is a nomadic, temporary free store that irregularly visits a variety of Chicagoland neighborhoods. The Free Store, open during all gallery hours, invites you to be involved: come to the store, bring stuff you want to give away, and take stuff that you want. There is no restriction on what you can take--you don't have to trade or barter. Just take it. The Free Store will be up through March 6, and the opening reception is tonight from 5 to 8. Gallery 400 is located at 400 S. Peoria.
