By the power of Greyskull, local comic book artist Tim Seeley and Image bring the Masters of the Universe to comics in a one-shot parody. Watch the commercial, then come celebrate at 1845 N. Western Ave. 2R, 5-7pm. Tim Seeley will be there to sign copies.
The Gene Siskel Film Center presents a month long retrospective of Jacques Tati's M.Hulot films. Tonight's film is the 1953 classic Mr. Hulot's Holiday, which may be the perfect antidote to the winter weather. The film screens at 6pm; see the Film Center Website for a complete schedule. Every second Wednesday night starting at 10pm at Rodan, Rumble Lounge explores the minimal, subtle and moody sides of dubstep and techno and the increasing overlap between the two. DJs Olin and Akademy promise a night for casual listeners, aficionados, and the curious alike to enjoy a relaxing environment and appreciate the texture in the more subdued stylings of dubstep, dub-techno, uk funky, minimal house and techno. Smartbar has just released a statement confirming that the ridiculous snow storms on the east coast have canceled Holy Ghost!'s flights out of New York, who were slated to perform tonight. But All Systems Go! - a monthly event showcasing great house, disco and beyond - is soldiering on with no cover all night tonight! Presented by local DJ collective the Chicago Workgroup, Scotty Brandon, Samone Roberts, Kid Color and Weaponry intend to give this nuisance weather the what for. The Hideout (1354 W. Wabansia) holds its Soup and Bread weekly fundraiser tonight for a local food-related charity where local chefs and foodies prepare a selection of soups for your casual slurping from the bar's crock pots. Donations encouraged. Event runs 5:30-8pm.
