Love is overrated. What you really need on Valentine's Day is some metal. The Empty Bottle is screening the music documentary Anvil! The Story of Anvil today. Anvil follow the story of the Canadian rock band Anvil. In the 80's this band played with Whitesnake and Bon Jovi at huge festivals, but somehow never found the same success. Throughout the documentary we watch the remaining members try to bring back the band for one last hurrah at a European metal festival. Screening starts at 7pm and is free.
Join Lincoln Park Zoo for breakfast in the Kovler Lion House while listening to the zoological manager of carnivores. Learn about our own lions, tigers and other cats, then view the zoo's cats as they explore their habitats first thing in the morning, their most active time of day. Breakfast is at 9:30am, and ticket, which must be purchased by Feb. 11, are $65 for zoo members and $75 for nonmembers. Get tickets here. (Children under 12 are not permitted.)

Spend Valentine's Day with family making a heart-shaped box or bowl for someone you love at the Heart Shapes Family Workshop. Attendees use terra cotta clay and personalize their creations with stamps and bright underglazes. This one-day workshop is suitable for adults and kids ages 5 and up. The workshop runs today from 2 to 4pm. Members $190 per pair (parent/child)/non-members $200 per pair (parent/child).
