Spoon @ Aragon

Spoon plays at The Aragon tonight on the heels of their newest album Transference. The album was self produced by the band and has so far turned out to be a love-it or hate-it album, since it's such a departure from the pop-centric quality of their last full length, Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga. Deerhunter and Micachu & the Shapes also play. Tickets are $24.75. 1106 W. Lawrence.

Miles Kurosky @ Schubas

San Francisco's Beulah had a dazzling career with critical acclaim and moderate commercial success before calling it quits in 2004. Every album was better than its predecessor and rarely did they repeat themselves. Their indie-rock sound landed them with contemporaries as part of Elephant 6. This year bandleader Miles Kurosky has returned to music with some solo output that echoes Beulah in numerous ways, such as the contrast between its summery pop music and downbeat subject matter. It's a winning combination for Kurosky, though. He performs at Schubas at 9pm. The show's 21+ and $12. Schubas is on the southeast corner of Belmont & Southport. Tickets are available at the venue's website.
