Tipsycake Wedding Cake Tasting

Wale, K'naan @ Metro

Somali-born rapper and spoken-word artist K'naan and fascinating up-and-comer from D.C. Wale round out your weekend at Metro tonight. (Get a taste of the two as they perform on MTV.com.) Both rappers incorporate a live band (complete with a brass section) to their songs which makes for an electric performance. John Forte and Tabi Bonney open. Tickets are $20 (adv)/$22 (door). 18+ Doors open at 6:30pm, music starts at 7:30pm.

"West Side Story" Reunion @ Hollywood Blvd. Cinema

Academy Award winners Rita Moreno ("Anita" in the movie) and George Chakiris ("Bernardo") and Academy Award nominee Russ Tamblyn ("Riff"), who will share memories and stories from the making of "West Side Story" before each screening. 8th Annual CHIRP Record Fair And Other Delights

Now that you've got your bike out and are riding it to and fro in the early spring warmth, it's time to fasten that milk carton to the back seat as well - Spring means Record Fair season is here as well. Returning to the Chicago Journeymen Plumbers Union (1340 W. Washington) from 10am-5pm, the 2010 CHIRP Record Fair and Other Delights should be good cause to warm up your vinyl-scouring fingers. Local shops and labels, record distros, and personal collections will all be in attendance, as well as entertainment from bands and DJ sets throughout. And proceeds go to CHIRP, so you can support independent radio (even if you secretly just want to be a vinyl junkie).

Chicago (1927) @ the Musicbox Theatre

Silent film isn't dead! The Musicbox Theatre is digging deep into the vaults to bring the 1927 silent film Chicago to the silver screen once more. The West End Jazz Band will provide pre-show entertainment with classic twenties and thirties jazz music, and organist Dennis Scott will accompany the film on the Musicbox organ. Doors open at 1 pm and the screening starts at 2:15 pm. Tickets can be purchased at the Musicbox box office or online through Brown Paper Tickets. Admission is $10.

8 Inch Betsy, Polymer Twins, Transcendental Splitters @ Red Line Tap

Chicago's Beyondmedia presents its first ever Extravabandza fundraiser tonight at Red Line Tap (7006 N. Glenwood). With a solid local lineup including 8 Inch Betsy, Polymer Twins, Transcendental Splitters, The Nuisance and others, the Extravabandza will feature a live auction MC'd by Actor Slash Model with proceeds benefiting Beyondmedia Education's media-driven nonprofit endeavors. The event starts at 6pm and tickets are available on a sliding scale ($10 - $25) at the door or in advance online.
