The Old Town School of Folk Music presents their annual two-day festival of music and dance in Welles Park (Lincoln and Montrose) this weekend. The Moratorium on Deportations Campaign is having a big ol' shindig at Casa Aztlan in Pilsen. They'll be watching the World Cup championship game and making signs for forthcoming immigration protests in the city. Grilled food and side dishes cost you $10, and drinks will be for sale. Casa Aztlan is located on 1831 S. Racine St., and the party will be going from 1:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
Bowing to high demand, Forgotten Chicago is hosting a repeat of its tour exploring the two neighborhoods' "rich ethnic history, including Czechs, Germans, Latinos, and even a small Italian enclave." For $10 a person, the tour begins at noon and sign-up is required.
The best sporting month of the season comes to an end as Soldier Field becomes World Cup Central in celebration of the final match. In addition to a live broadcast of the final match, Chicago World Cup Festival presents live music all day, featuring the likes of Brasilian Samba, African Percussions, Graffiti Dancers performing the official FIFA World Cup anthem "Wavin' Flag" from K'naan, and many more.
