Today is Ernest Hemingway's 101st birthday. To celebrate, the Ernest Hemingway Museum is having an open house at 3:30pm, then at 7:30pm Thomas J. Putnam, Director of the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum will present the lecture Treasures from Hemingway's Trunk: Highlights from the Ernest Hemingway Collection at the John F. Kennedy Library. Chicago Public Radio and the Music Box present another Sound Opinions movie night. Tonight's film is the 1993 Richard Linklater film Dazed and Confused, starring a large cast of soon-to-be-famous actors in a story about high school graduation in 1976. The fine folks who brought you the weekly fundraiser soup-eating slurp-a-thon Soup and Bread (along with NeighborSpace) have taken their interests to a new activity...bingo. Veggie Bingo runs every Wednesday at the Hideout (1354 W. Wabansia). Event begins at 6pm; cards are $1 each, or 6 for $5. Proceeds benefit Chicago community gardens. Event runs weekly through September 29.
