Fillet of Solo Festival presents The Sylvia Chronicles @ Lifeline Theater

Lifeline Theater (6912 N. Glenwood) and Live Bait Theater (3914 N. Clark Street) present Nicole Hollander, the author of the syndicated cartoon strip Sylvia, in The Sylvia Chronicles: 30 years of Graphic Misbehavior from Reagan to Obama . People's Radio Workshop @ Mess Hall

Messhaller Allan and other members of the Radios Populares Collective will lead a two-part workshop on building a low-power FM radio station from the ground up! Join them in building THE PEOPLE'S RADIO at Mess Hall, broadcasting during the Glenwood Ave Arts Fest (Aug 20-22). This event is today and Aug 15 from 10am to 2pm at Mess Hall (6932 N Glenwood.)

Lollapalooza @ Grant Park

The multi-stage multi-day festival known universally as Lollapalooza returns to Grant Park this weekend for fun in the sun with thousands of your new best friends. Headliners include Soundgarden, Green Day, and Lady Ga Ga among many many others. Pack some water and sunblock and head on out! (Keep an eye on Transmission for our previews on what to see.) Tickets are $215 for a 3-Day Pass or $90 for single day tickets.

Jefferson Park Walking Tour

Forgotten Chicago and the Northwest Chicago Historical Society are hosting a walking tour of Jefferson Park. Focus will be on growth which occurred in the 1910-20s, and 1950-60s, as well as the role industry played in the development of the neighborhood. Fillet of Solo Festival @ The Artistic Home

Lifeline Theater (6912 N. Glenwood) and Live Bait Theater (3914 N. Clark Street) change venues with week 3 of the Fillet of Solo Festival, moving south to The Artistic Home (3914 N. Clark). At 3pm Martie Sanders, writer and performer with The Sweat Girls, performs a work-in-progress entitled Man Up. There will be a post show discussion, this is a free event. Northalsted Market Days

Northalsted Market Days takes over Halsted from Belmont to Addison all weekend, filling the street with more than 400 arts and crafts and food vendors as well as three concert stages. 11am to 10pm. Free, but donations requested.

Chiddy Bang (Official Lollapalooza Aftershow) @ Subterranean

Philly's Chiddy Bang will be rocking Sub-T (2011 W. North Ave) tonight with fellow Lollapalooza acts Donnis, XV, Vonnegutt & FreeSol. This refreshing set of new school b-boys promises to make rap fun again. Doors open at 9 pm, music starts at 10. Tickets to this 17 and up show cost $15.
