Eating excellent food tastes a little better when you know it's for a good cause. Chicago's top chefs are teaming up to for Cooking Up a Cure, a culinary all-star dining event, to support the Chicago area chapter of the Scleroderma Foundation and promote continued research into a cure for the disease. This delicious event will be chaired for the second time by Cleetus Friedman, owner of City Provisions, and will be held at Salvage One.
Doors open at 5:30pm and tickets cost $100.

The internationally acclaimed Sphinx Chamber Orchestra returns to Chicago for a one-night performance. The program also features the Harlem Quartet, and includes works by Bach, Vivaldi and Mozart, alongside seldom-presented works by Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson, George Walker, Michael Abels and Astor Piazzolla. The performance beings at 7:30 pm, at the Harris Theater, 205 E. Randolph Dr. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased online at the Harris Theater website.

It's the third Monday of the month and that means you need to be at the Mental Graffiti poetry slam at Butterfly Social Club. Tonight's feature is two-time National Poetry Slam champ Kyle "El Guante" Myhre from St. Paul, MN. A quick Google search tells me "guante" means "glove or gauntlet."
