Yakuo Yokoshi's "Tyler Tyler" @ The Dance Center

The Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago presents the Chicago debut of Hiroshima-born choreographer Yasuko Yokoshi. Yokoshi's work "Tyler Tyler," offers a contemporary perspective on Kabuki Su-odori dance, a stripped-down form of Kabuki that has been revered for its purity and simplicity. Chicagoans can take advantage of this rare opportunity to view Kabuki Su-odori through a contemporary lens at 8pm, at The Dance Center, 1306 S. Michigan Ave. Tickets are $26-30, and may be purchased via The Dance Center website. There will be a post-performance discussion with the artists following this performance.

Neo-Obama Portrait-O-Rama

The Neo-Futurists are holding a theater benefit tonight to unveil the Barack Obama portrait in their long-running art installation Hall of Presidents (the portraits of every US President that hang in the entrance hall of the Neo-Futurarium theater). Included tonight will be refreshments, music and performances by the Neo-Futurists, and a silent auction of the runner-up Obama portraits. Tickets are $25 in advance, $35 at the door. Horror Plays @ Prop Theatre

Cock & Bull Theatre presents the final weekend of splatter fest Axe Lizzie & The Possession of Alice Von Truskin, written and directed by Chris Garcia Peak. Performances are for ages 18 and over only, and take place at Prop Theatre, 3502 N Elston, 8 pm. Darger Puppet Show by The Anatomy Collective @ Intuit

Following the Contemporary Authors and the Artistic Process panel event, theater group The Anatomy Collective (TAC) was given about three weeks to develop an exclusive puppet show that blended the tracings, clippings, ephemera and writing generated and collected by Darger with the book collectively created by attendees of CUL's panel. The resulting performance today showcases TAC's talents and resourcefulness in a whimsical epic that re-interprets Darger's (home) life and (studio) work and the readers and viewers it continues to inspire. Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba @ Auditorium Theatre

Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba lights up Roosevelt University's Auditorium Theatre with flamenco, ballet and contemporary dance set to Spanish and Afro-Cuban rhythms. The company, made up of 18 female dancers, celebrates the uniqueness of Cuban culture in this lively engagement. The performance takes place at 7:30 pm at Auditorium Theatre, 50 E. Congress Pkwy.
