2010 National Roller Derby Championships @ UIC Pavilion

Uproar on the Lakeshore, the 2010 WFTDA national roller derby championship, is held this year in our fair city today through Sunday, Nov. 7 at the UIC Pavilion (525 S Racine). Twelve teams from across the country will be contending for the title of 2010 WFTDA (Women's Flat Track Derby Association) champion.

Tickets are $31 daily or $78 for an all-weekend pass. Trackside (aka "Suicide")/VIP seating is $123 for an all-weekend pass (no daily VIP tix). Tickets may be purchased online or at the door. Full schedule with times here.

Vintage Heaven: The Cat's Meow @ Heaven Gallery

The Mighty Uke @ Film Center

The Gene Siskel Film Center presents a screening of the 2010 documentary The Mighty Uke, detailing the history of the ukulele and its recent resurgence in music. Today's screening is at 2pm, and there will be a second screening tomorrow evening at 8pm. SOFA Chicago & Intuit Show

SOFA Expo and the Intuit Show of Folk and Outsider Art run together at Navy Pier 11am to 8pm Friday and Saturday, 11am to 6pm Sunday. Tickets are $15 per day, or $50 for a three-day pass.

Detroit @ Steppenwolf

This afternoon is your last chance to see Lisa D'Amour's entirely modern and brilliantly written perspective on the dwindling American suburb, Detroit. Everyone will construct his or her own theories on what the play is about so construct your own at The Steppenwolf at 3pm today 1650 N. Halsted Street in Lincoln Park.
