Schubas, The Metro and Lincoln Hall present Tomorrow Never Knows, the 5-day music festival happening at all three venues. Tonight's shows: The Helio Sequence at Lincoln Hall (2424 North Lincoln Avenue), and Magic Kids at Schubas (3159 North Southport Avenue). See the show listing at Lincoln Hall's Website for details on the festival.
Portland's Helio Sequence is often cited for 100% home recording and singer Brandon Summers losing his voice at one time. But there is much more to them, like the departure their music took after Summers' break from speaking led him to expand their horizons from an ambient electronic band to one willing and able to mix folk and psych-rock seamlessly with their old sound. Chicago's California Wives pull inspiration from indie-pop acts and sound reminiscent of a male-fronted Phantogram with more guitars. Helio Sequence headline Tomorrow Never Knows 2011 at Lincoln Hall. California Wives open. The show's 18+, tickets are $15 and it all starts at 8pm. Lincoln Hall's at 2424 N Lincoln.
