Brotherhood Chorale @ Nichols Concert Hall

The Music Institute of Chicago welcomes Brotherhood Chorale, for its 7th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration at 5pm today at Nichols Concert Hall, 1490 Chicago Ave, Evanston. Led by conductor Brian C. Rice, this 180-member, all male choir from Chicago performs a free jazz and gospel concert in honor of the legendary Civil Rights leader. Too Hot to Handel: The Jazz-Gospel Messiah

"Too Hot to Handel: The Jazz-Gospel Messiah" returns to the Auditorium Theatre, 50 E. Congress Pkwy., for two public performances this weekend, Saturday, Jan. 15 at 7:30pm and Sunday, Jan. 16 at 3pm. RE:COM Comedy Show & Launch Party @ Crown Tap Room

The official launch party for RE:COM's Social Media issue begins at 8pm tonight at the Crown Tap Room: 2821 N. Milwaukee. RE:COM is a national publication, headquartered in Chicago, that focuses on alternative stand-up comedy. In this issue, they feature Marc Maron, of the WTF podcast, plus Paul F. Tompkins and Comedy Death-Ray Radio's Scott Aukerman. The launch party doubles as the inaugural edition of the Crown Comedy Show, and features James Fritz (whose debut comedy album "Deflated" was recently the No.1 seller on iTunes); Ricky Carmona (featured on HBO Latino); Chad Briggs (winner of Impress These Apes Season Four); Natalie Jose (comedian and singer of the beloved Patsy Cline cover band, the Weepin' Willows); and Sean White, recent Chicago transplant and winner of the RE:COM Perfect Tweet Contest.
