Typeforce 2 Opening @ Co-Prosperity Sphere
See the work of more than two dozen local typographers at the opening party for Typeforce, an annual showcase running tonight through March 7 at the Co-Prosperity Sphere, 3219 S. Morgan St. The party starts at 6pm. Free.
Schadenfreude's "Alderman Ed Bus Victory Party (and variety show)" @ Gallery Cabaret
Schadenfreude (Chicago's critically acclaimed comedy group) is performing both Friday and Saturday night (Feb. 18 &19) at the Gallery Cabaret in Bucktown. The comedic variety show will focus on the upcoming mayoral election in Chicago. Alderman Ed Bus (53rd) is running for mayor. He will host. Guests include Alderman Scott Waguespack (32nd Ward), former 42nd Ward Alderman Burt Natarus, Grammy Award winner and 20th Ward candidate Rhymefest, Cook County Social Club (2010 Best Comedy Group, Chi Reader), Comic and future Chicago Wingman: Ernest Wilkins, Beatbox sensation Yuri Lane and Paul Thomas (Rum Emanuel). Chicago Jazz Ensemble
The Chicago Jazz Ensemble presents "An Evening of Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan" with special guest performer Ledisi tonight at 7:30pm at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, 205 E. Randolph St. Tickets are $15 to $45, with discounts for senior citizens and groups. Student tickets are $5. Tickets can be purchased at 312-334-7777, at the Harris Theater box office or online.
Ox-Bow Benefit Dance Party @ Architectural Artifacts

Comedy legend Patton Oswalt will sign his book, Zombie Spaceship Wasteland at Reckless Records (1532 N. Milwaukee) today at 3pm. Covering everything from his time working at a Cineplex to eccentric family stories to what he did to procrastinate instead of finishing chapters, you'll be able to supplement the book with an unabridged audio CD version of it, courtesy of literary neighbors Quimby's -- perfect for a car trip, to work to, or just because his colorful, wonderfully strange and sarcastic stories take on a new dimension of funny when read aloud.
