The Gene Siskel Film Center presents the opening night of its annual European Union Film Festival. The opening night film is Hungary's Academy Award submission Bibliotheque Pascal, and tonight's 6pm screening will include appearances by the director and star. Most one-woman shows cover unrequited love over a cup of Earl Gray and draped in a sheer bathrobe, but Mo Welch isn't your normal gal. In fact, she's kind of a Weird Girl, conveniently the title of her new "one-human show." Instead of impersonating ex-lovers or neglectful children, she busts out Larry Bird and MCs. Check out the closing night at 9 p.m. at the Lincoln Lodge, 4008 N. Lincoln with comedian Aaron Weaver and international circus performer Amanda Crockett. Tickets are $10 and available here.

The Interview Show returns to the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia, tonight from 6:30pm to 8pm. Guests this month are chef Chris Duffy, aldermanic candidate and rapper Che "Rhymefest" Smith, The Autumn Defense's Patrick Sansone and John Stirratt, and comedian Beth Stelling. Admission is $5; 21+.
Sean Flannery's one-man show, Never Been to Paris, follows up a sold-out run last fall with a second run this spring at the Chicago Center for Performing Arts, 777 N. Illumination kicks off 914's First Friday gallery event (914 N. California Ave) and marks the West Town/Humboldt Park loft collaborative's grand opening. Challenging the conventional notion of light in art and space, Illumination's 14 featured artists explore light as a medium and the source of their work. A live performance by Chicago experimental sound duo l'éternèbre divides a downtempo-turned-dance DJ set by Tony Junior.
