Martyrs plays host to the opening night of Columbia College's 15th annual Story Week festival. Tonight's event is 2nd Story, a showcase featuring authors Lott Hill, Eric May, Patricia Ann McNair and April Newman. Show starts at 7pm, doors open at 6:30pm. The Chicago Nerds Social Club presents their second annual Pi Day pie bake-off and competition. This year the event happens on the day BEFORE Pi Day, so it's an Almost Pi(e) Day event. Attendees are invited to bring their home-baked pies in for the tasting competition, and there will be trivia competitions, prizes to people who memorize the most digits of pi, and other geeky edu-tainment. The DuSable Museum of African-American History, 740 E. 56th Pl., celebrates Women's History Month today from 3pm to 5pm with Simone, a tribute to the late jazz singer Nina Simone. The performance is a day of dance and song with Suite Nina, performed by the Muntu Dance Theatre and a vocal tribute by Chicago jazz songstress Dee Alexander. Critically acclaimed improv comedy troupe Octavarius is premiering a new show series titled "Octavarius: Battle for the Belt," tonight at 7pm at Stage 773: 1225 W. Belmont Ave. Additional performances will take place on March 20 & 27. Colt Cabana, former WWE and current Ring of Honor superstar, is a special guest of the series, making an in-person appearance on night two (the 20th) and video appearances on night one and three. "The Ego" Robert Anthony, CZW Heavyweight Champion, will make a surprise appearance on the final night of the series (the 27th). Tickets are $15 per show, or $25 for a ringside pass to all three nights. The Chicago Flower & Garden Show runs March 5-13 at Navy Pier. Check out landscaping displays and tabletop arrangements, learn about new products and techniques, and enjoy a bit of greenery in still-dreary March. Hours are 10am to 8pm Monday through Saturday, 10am to 6pm Sunday. Tickets are $15 weekdays, $17 weekends for adults, $5 for kids all the time.
