Fujiya & Miyagi @ the Mid

Brighton-based electro-quartet Steve Lewis, David Best, Matt Hainsby, and Lee Adams are a lot less Japanese than their name would suggest, but they sure make some bass-heavy, synthtastic fun tonight at the Mid (306 N. Halsted). 8pm, tickets $10.

Benten Records Japan Nite @ Empty Bottle

The Empty Bottle and Benten Records from Japan present the Japan Nite 2011 starting at 9:30pm. Scheduled to play: Lolita No. 18; Mo'Some Tonebender; Zukunashi; and Hystotic Vein. Tickets are $10. Empty Bottle: 1035 N. Western. (773) 276-3600.

Dex Romweber Duo, Wanda Jackson @ Lincoln Hall

It's one big night of rockabilly stars at Lincoln Hall tonight. The Dex Romweber Duo opens for Wanda Jackson at Lincoln Hall. Tickets are $20 (adv), $25 (door). 18+. Lincoln Hall is located at 2424 N. Lincoln Ave. 773-525-2501. Music starts at 8pm.

Will and Adem Chapman @ Uncommon Ground on Clark

Initially, Will (of Teenage Rage) may come across as something of a diamond in the rough, but his interesting and unique harmonic progressions and ability to lyrically navigate grey areas in a search for meaning reveal him as a frighteningly talented songwriter with an irreverence for perfection... a diamond which *chooses* to stay a little rough on the edges. Adem (who plays bass in Will's band) writes understated but powerful roots and pop tunes, and his excellent vocal chops bring his songs to life. They perform tonight at Uncommon Ground (1214 W. Grace). Also appearing will be musician Rob Reid, whose songs draw from an eclectic range of world genres and describe colorful characters involved in endeavors such as riding public transit in West Africa, surviving lightning strikes, and holding up banks. Show starts at 8pm.
