Cookbook author David Lebovitz appears at the Hotel Allegro (171 W Randolph) from 4-6pm for a book signing event promoting his new book The Sweet Life in Paris. Onsite book sales benefit the Greater Midwest Foodways Alliance.

As we mentioned awhile back, the physical Book Club is not gone but changing forms: from a monthly, more traditional book club to a quarterly author discussion. We're excited to be kicking off this new format with local and national favorite Joe Meno and his latest novel, The Great Perhaps! There will be an author discussion and signing tonight, 7:30pm-9pm, at Sheffield's (3258 North Sheffield Avenue). Free!
Tonight at the UIC Student Center East Building, Cardinal Room (750 S. Halsted St), join bestselling author David Sirota and The Onion A.V. Club's Nathan Rabin at 7pm for a 1980s themed evening. Sirota just published Back to Our Future: How the 1980s Explain The World We Live In Now, and he and Rabin will try to stump you with '80s trivia and get you talking about how '80s culture still affects us today. Event is free, and a book signing will follow.
Factory Theater Hosts a Kick-Off Party for Their Newest and Swingiest Rat Pack-Era Production of Easy Six tonight from 6 to 9:30 at Chief O'Neill's Pub (3471 N. Elston Ave.). Featuring live entertainment from cast member, Esteban Cruz (2009 Jeff Award winner for best actor in Jesus Hopped the A Train at Raven and recently seen in the Lyric Opera's production of Benjamin Britten's Midsummer Night's Dream), a first look at the Easy Six Promo Video Premier, mingling with Factory Theater ensemble and Easy Six cast members, special priced tickets to Easy Six opening night including post-show party and raffles and prizes. This event is free to attend.
Dziga Vertov's Man with a Movie Camera screens tonight at Links Hall, with an original score and live performance by Dan Scaff. 3435 N Sheffield Ave, 8pm. Tickets are $8-$10.
