Firkin Tapping @ Owen & Engine
Tonight, Owen & Engine will be tapping a firkin of Metropolitan's Krankshaft, but this one's been spiced up a bit. Coriander was added directly to the firkin, adding a flowery, earthy, lemon-like twist to the mild fruity notes of Krankshaft Kolsch, just in time for spring. You may remember us reporting that One Book, One Chicago chose Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere for this year's citywide reading program. Tonight Gaiman will talk with Audrey Niffenegger about imagination and creativity at the Harold Washington Library Center auditorium (400 S. State St) at 6pm. Event is free!
Reginald Gibbons and Cornelia Maude Spelman @ The Cliff Dwellers Club
Reginald Gibbons and Cornelia Maude Spelman are married. They are also the authors of Slow Trains Overhead: Chicago Poems And Stories and Missing: A Memoir, respectively. Tonight they will come together to present their poetry and prose in a program by the Society of Midland Authors at the Cliff Dwellers Club (200 S. Michigan Ave, 22nd floor). Complimentary snacks and a cash bar will be available starting at 6pm, with the reading beginning at 7pm. And admission is free, but the Society would be grateful for any donations to offset the cost of their programs.
Townhall Hearing to Save Rumble Arts @ The Humboldt Park Fieldhouse
Humboldt Park art and community center Rumble Arts is (once again) in danger of closing its doors because the family-owned pawnshop that provides its primary source of funding is in danger of being replaced by a Cash America. Show your support for Rumble by attending the townhall hearing tonight at 6pm at the Humboldt Park Fieldhouse (1400 N. Sacramento). While you're at it, why not sign this petition?
