The Room @ Music Box

Schizcago @ The Building Stage

The film Schizcago will screen at 10pm tonight at The Building Stage, 412 N. Carpenter Street. $5. As described by the filmmakers: "This bricolage comedy follows Lacey and her friends as they fake their way into clinic trials and peddle their tastes as corporate youth consultants. A surreal portrait of wage relations, Schizcago wryly presents the changing desires of privileged city youth."

Blockhead & Poirier @ Abbey Pub

Producer/DJs Blockhead and Poirier round out Ninja Tune's XX Anniversary series at The Abbey (3420 W. Grace St) tonight. The fellas will be joined by Chicago's own Quadratic, MC Zulu and DJ Demchuk. Doors open at 8, show starts at 8:30pm. Tickets range from $15-18.

MAELSTROM Storytelling Competition @ DCA Theater

WNEP Theater presents the 12th annual SKALD storytelling competition with a week of storytelling events for all ages. Tonight's MAELSTROM storytelling competition features improvised stories told by hopefuls who have successfully auditioned for this competition. Tickets are $15, competition starts at 7:30pm. Open Warehouse Sale (all weekend) @ unison

Local online textile design company, specializing in modern bedding, table linens, and throw pillows, unison, is opening its warehouse doors this weekend for Chicagoans to come and purchase overstock, samples, and special runs in person for huge discounts. The event takes place all weekend: Friday and Saturday from 12 to 6pm and Sunday from 12 to 4pm. Arts of Life @ minibar

Arts of Life, a nonprofit dedicated to helping developmentally disabled and non-disabled artists develop their craft, holds a cocktail reception for its first resident artist, Tim Stone, tonight at minibar Ultra Lounge, 3339 N. Halsted St., from 8pm to 10pm. The event will also showcase other artists. $10 suggested donation. 21+

Local Craft Beer Parties @ Maria's & Co-Prosperity Sphere

Hey beer lovers, tonight three of the country's most rad craft breweries are hosting a double event in Bridgeport: One at Maria's Packaged Goods & Community Bar (960 W. 31st St.) and a simultaneous event takes place two blocks away at the Co-Prosperity Sphere (3219 S. Morgan St.). These events are being held to celebrate Chicago Craft Beer Week. Half Acre, Three Floyd's and Dogfish Head will be stocked at Maria's, with some rare beers on draft. 7pm til 2am. No cover.

The event at Co-Prosperity Sphere takes place from 8pm to 11pm. Admission is $10, which entitles you to complimentary craft beers. There are no online or presale admission tickets. Meet the staff of your favorite breweries: Three Floyd's Gregg Alzinga will be on the decks. Lord of the Yum Yum will perform at both venues. Proceeds will go to the non-profit arts organization Public Media Institute.

Crystal Stilts @ Empty Bottle

Crystal Stilts and the Eternal Summers perform at Empty Bottle tonight at 10pm. Tickets are $12. The Empty Bottle is located at 1035 N. Western Ave. 773-276-3600.

Urge Overkill @ Bottom Lounge

See if old Urge can still pull off the over-the-top rock god swagger at the Bottom Lounge, 1375 W. Lake St., tonight. Tickets are $20 in advance, $22 at the door. Doors open at 8pm, show's at 9m; 17 and over.

The Verdict @ Music Box

The Music Box Theatre presents a screening of the 1982 Sydney Lumet film The Verdict as part of "Movies On Trial", a series of films worth Continuing Legal Education credit.
