Story Club @ Uncommon Ground on Clark

Story Club is a monthly storytelling series that has been featured in Time Out Chicago, Gapers Block, Metromix, the DePaul Writing Center website, and is recommended by the Chicago Tribune. At each meeting of Story Club there are five open-mic slots and two featured readers; open mic sign-up is at 8pm, go time at 8:30pm at Uncommon Ground (3800 N. Clark). Weegee's Lounge Retrospective Photo Exhibit @ Weegee's Lounge

A photo retrospective from hundreds of Polaroids taken by neighborhood photographer Michael over the last 5 years will be on display.

Art Futura Opening Night Awards Party

The 9th annual ArtFutura is a juried art exhibition of more than 150 emerging and established artists benefiting the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago's Art Therapy program. All events including the Opening Night Awards Party tonight take place at the Ryan Family Atrium of NU Lurie Center (303 E. Superior St.). Proceeds from this event allow the hospital to maintain an Art Therapist at the hospital to work with patients. More information about this event can be found here.

"Speakin' of the Blues" @ Harold Washington Library

The Harold Washington Library Center (400 S. State St.) presents "Speakin' of the Blues," with musician and author 'Chicago Beau,' today at 12:15pm. Born Lincoln Beauchamp on Chicago's South Side, the entertainer will discuss his life and career, and will treat the audience to a live musical performance. Lincoln Square Maifest

Maifest makes a mess of Lincoln Square June 2-5 this year. The festival celebrates the (hopefully) good spring weather with German food, music and lots of beer. The revelries kick off at Lincoln and Leland avenues tonight from 5pm to 9pm.
