Gimme Shelter! Walk for the Animals @ Indian Boundary Park

Red Door Animal Shelter sponsors this annual benefit walk for homeless animals today from 10am-noon at at Indian Boundary Park, 2500 W. Lunt. Food, entertainment, and a pet psychic are part of the fun.

Neon Marshmallow Fest night 3 @ Empty Bottle

The three-night experimental music festival known as the Neon Marshmallow Fest concludes tonight at the Empty Bottle (1035 N. Western). Among the final night's highlights: The Rita, Telecult Powers, Mike Shiflet, Pulse Emitter, Tiger Hatchery, and electronic music pioneer Morton Subotnick in a rare live performance. Dance Dance Bama Bama

The Chicago chapter of the women-only Dance Dance Party Party are holding a co-ed dance to raise money to help provide transitional housing for the many people impacted by the recent tornadoes in Alabama. From 3:30 to 5pm today, come dance at the Church in West Ridge, 6015 N. Francisco Ave. RSVP and donate here; $20 recommended donation.

Black Twig Pickers @ Hideout

Don't call these three fellas "bluegrass" — they play old timey music. The Black Twig Pickers hail from Blacksburg, Virginia and recently signed to Thrill Jockey Records, the Black Twig Pickers are making a rare tour out to the midwest to play at the Hideout tonight. Head on over and enjoy an intimate show with a stellar old timey trio. There's a $5-$10 suggested donation at the door, and the band Northside Southpaws will open up the evening at 6pm. The Hideout is located at 1354 W. Wabansia Ave. 773-227-4433.

Ribfest
