Facets Cinematheque presents the return of Facets Night School, its occasional series of midnight cult film screenings paired with guest lecture/discussion sessions. Tonight's kick-off movie for this session is the superbad 2009 flick Black Dynamite, with discussion by Facets regular Dominick Mayer. Urban Folk Circuit brings its traveling craft show to 3 Brothers Auto Repair, 3722 W. Belmont Ave., today from noon to 8pm. Shop the wares of more than 20 local artists and crafters inside and outside, while listening to tunes by local musicians. More info and vendor list on Facebook. Free.
The Windy City Rollers play for the 2011 Ivy King Cup tonight at the UIC Pavilion (525 S. Racine). The game begins at 6pm. Tickets start at $20; get yours at the door or through Ticketmaster.
This is not your run of the mill craft fair. This is a community gathering together to help a school in need, with local crafters and artists coming together in support of Madero Middle School in Little Village (28th St. and Kedzie). They are a 90% reduced/free lunch school, in need of books. Check out the newest goods from over 20 kick ass local crafters, artists and vintage sellers. The first 50 attendees will receive a free Minor Art Attack tote bag. Want to kick it up a notch? Bring books (any subject manner as long as in decent condition) to donate to Open Books Ltd., an organization that helps provide funding for literacy programs right here in Chicago. All silent, all hilarious -- Stage Style Chicago describes Bri-Ko's performance as "...three grown men taking very simple tasks and turning them into exaggerated hysterical mishaps."
